Small Towns at Night
In an attempt to capture a bit of fading America, I visit small towns in Montana at night. Victorian towns built around the Pacific Northwest Railroad. The surrounding area was populated by recipients of the Homestead Act who farmed wheat and raised sheep and cattle. Land that used to belong to the Native Americans. It still remains a rugged lifestyle, struggling to find its place in contemporary America.
As I made these photographs, I felt these towns could not stand in silence. I formed a collaboration with my dear friend Robert Williams, who among many talents is a singer/songwriter who hails from Oklahoma. His spoken word accompanies this project.
